Paul Thiltges
Co-founder of one of the very first audiovisual production companies in Luxembourg, he has produced and/or distributed more than 30 feature films, animated series and documentaries to date.
His producer or co-producer credits include feature films like "Schacko Klak", "Retrato de Família" (Family Portrait) by Luís Galvão Teles with Maria de Medeiros and Joaquim de Almeida, "Grosse Gefühle" by Christof Schertenleib, and animated features like "The Blue Arrow" (La Freccia Azzurra) by Enzo d'Aló and "Kirikou and the Sorceress" by Michel Ocelot.
As a distributor, he has represented for many years the library of Luxembourgish productions on the international market, handling worldwide sales for titles such as "The Red Bridge" by Geneviève Mersch, "Black Dju" by Pol Cruchten, and "Edward J. Steichen" by Claude Waringo. More recently, he has concentrated on productions selected for their strong international potential. These include "The Blue Arrow" (La Freccia Azzurra), "Kirikou and the Sorceress", and "Megacities".
From Luxembourgish cult-movies to animated features or European auteur films, these productions all have in common a certain quality and a strong link with the public: from Luís Galvão Teles "Retrato de Família", nominated in 1988 to represent Luxembourg at the Oscars, to "The Blue Arrow", first European animated feature to be distributed in the U.S.A. by Disney and sold to 85 countries, from "Megacities", selected by reknown international festivals like Sundance, Toronto and San Sebastian, to "Kirikou and the Sorceress", which reached the record figure of 2.5 million b.o. admissions in France and is to date one of the most successful european animation films ever.
In addition to his work as a producer and distributor, Paul Thiltges has set up an animation and special effects studio (PTD Studio). Equipped with the latest technologies, the studio works on its own projects and for outside clients - production companies and advertising agencies in Benelux. In 2000, he was appointed manager of idPROD, the audiovisual and multimedia production entity of IP Luxembourg.
Finally, Paul Thiltges is President of the Luxembourg Audiovisual Production Union (ULPA), grouping all independent producers in the Grand-Duchy, since 1996.
